OLWEN MILES
Olwen Miles is a dynamic and accomplished young violinist, rapidly establishing herself as a distinctive voice in classical music. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree at the Royal Academy of Music in London, studying with So-Ock Kim and having graduated with First Class Honours from the same institution. Born and raised in Palermo, Sicily, Olwen trained with Iuliu Hamza and Remus Azoitei, developing a passionate musical identity and a commitment to championing lesser-known repertoire.
Equally at ease as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral leader, Olwen has performed widely across Europe. Highlights include appearances at Wigmore Hall, solo engagements with orchestras such as the Maidenhead, Brescia Masters, and Watford Symphony Orchestras, and performances at venues including PeleČ™ Castle in Romania. She has collaborated with renowned artists and participated in masterclasses with leading violinists, and in 2026 was selected for Gerhard Schultz’s class at IMS Prussia Cove.
An experienced orchestral musician, she has led the Royal Academy Symphony Orchestra under conductors including Sir Mark Elder, Roderick Cox, and Jonathon Heyward, and performed at the Aldeburgh Festival. Her accolades include multiple international competition prizes and prestigious scholarships, including support from Help Musicians, Royal Philharmonic Society Emily Anderson Violin Prize, LSO Conservatoire Scholarship and the Harrison Frank Family Foundation Award.
A dedicated chamber musician, Olwen is a member of the Regency String Quartet, prizewinners at the Royal Overseas League Competition and Kirckman Concert Society artists.
She performs on a 1767 Testore violin, generously loaned by the Royal Academy of Music.
